Reasoning With Help

To reasoned with someone is to try to persuade to do something by explaining why you think it is sensible.  However, we might often find that we can only impart information, with a view of letting them decide for themselves.  Especially when it comes to spiritual matters, because the figurative heart is involved.

Isaiah 1:18-19
"Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool. "If you consent and obey, You will eat the best of the land;

1 Corinthians 1:18-28
  1. For the message of the cross [christ] is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
  2. For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”
  3. Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world
  4. For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.
  5. Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom,
  6. but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,
  7. but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
  8. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
  9. Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.
  10. But God chose the foolishthings of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
  11. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are,

Ephesians 1:17-21
  1. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
  2. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,
  3. and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength
  4. he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,
  5. far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
